Submission Rules
HKUST-Sino One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition 2020
(A) Applications Submission
- All submissions will be in English and must be submitted online (https://onemilliondollar.ust.hk) before application deadline. No paper entries will be accepted.
- Deadline of application: March 16, 2020 ( New Updates).
- All applications are required to submit a 1-page Executive Summary in PDF file.
(B) Executive Summary Submission for Round 1 Assessment
- All entries are required to submit a 1-page executive summary.
- Must be written in English, not exceed 1 pages, single-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, A4 size. Contents of executive summary may refer “Executive Summary Guidelines”.
- Additional covering sheeting, title page, appendices, or other pages are NOT allowed and will result in disqualification.
- Must include team name, team composition, team leader, exhibit and contents, page number.
- Submitted in PDF file.
- At this stage it is no need to submit business plan.
(C) Pre-recorded Video for Product Introduction and Online Live Elevator Pitch for Round 2 Assessment
Pre-recorded Video for Product Introduction
- Teams entered Round 2 are required to submit a 1-min video presentation.
- Contents of the video may refer to “Pre-recorded Video Guidelines”.
- Deadline of submission is April 14, 2020, 23:59. Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.
- Format:
- Video Length: Up to 1 minute long
- Language: English
- File Formate: MP4
- File Size: Less than 200 MB
- Resolution: 720p
- The video must not infringe on any third-party rights (logos, music, intellectual property, etc.).
- The video must not contain obscene, violent, pornographic, defamatory, objectionable, insulting or any of the controversial and inappropriate content. HKUST Entrepreneurship Center reserve the right to remove the video with offensive contents from the website.
- All decisions made by the judging panel are final.
- Any violation of rules may result in disqualification from the competition, subject to the final discretion of HKUST Entrepreneurship Center.
Online Live Elevator Pitch
- Top 24 teams have a chance to give a 60-second pitch to the judges and followed by up to 3 minutes of Q&A by the Judging Panel. The pitch will be video recorded.
- The list of the teams entering the Online Live Elevator Pitch and the order for the teams’ pitching will be announced on April 27, 2020.
(D) Full Business Plan Submission for Round 3 Assessment
- Finalist teams are required to submit ONE business plan in not more than 10 PowerPoint slides and submitted in PDF file format. Contents of full business plan may refer “Full Business Plan Guidelines”.
- Deadline of submission is May 24, 2020. The submitted version will be sent to the judging panel for background study before the Business Plan Presentation. ( New Updates) Teams not meeting this deadline may be disqualified.
- Teams can submit a final version of the full business plan no later than June 3, 2020, 07:00 ( New Updates)
- The Business Plan must be written in English.
