12 FINALISTS of the
"HKUST 2013 One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition"

We are pleased to announce the 12 Finalist Teams in alphabetical order of our "HKUST 2013 One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition" with a brief description of their business proposals.

Adhesco - Commercializes cost-effective, high performance novel adhesives manufacture technology originally developed at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) which utilizes natural materials, in particular wastes from agriculture industry.

Agito Group Limited - Upgrades the quality of taxi service industry in Hong Kong and in similar cities through the use of IT and a proprietary multi-platform system.

Cascube - Monitors animal behaviors which combine wireless communication and advanced signal processing technologies to track the precise locations of animals and perform behavioral analyses without human intervention.

Cheerclan Limited - Aids mobile gamers to discover good games through an innovative recommendation and discovery engine on mobile technology.

Freemiu - Delivers games to mobile gamers via new marketing partners and better payment solutions by a new internet based mobile games platform using new technology.

Industry First - Creates a revolutionary breakthrough to advance the apparel sewing accessories industry and facilitate the next evolution – instant custom-made virtual clothing with infinite sewing accessories options.

Inno-Chemos - Provides platforms of innovative testing solutions which make consumer product testing more efficient, economical, and accurate, thus enhance the safety of consumer products and protecting human health and the environment.

Minimize - Provides easy to install landslide monitoring sensors along with Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based sensing peripherals to the Civil Engineering and other measurement industries in Asia.

NovoDiagnostics Limited - Develops efficient diagnostic tests that can assist to differentiate between viral and bacterial infections so that subclinical infected individuals can be identified within a short period of time to allow appropriate measures to be taken to prevent the spreading of diseases.

Solaris - Accelerates the use of solar energy by licensing a patented technology enabling solar panel manufacturers (licensees) to produce solar panels that are significantly lighter, more flexible, and more cost effective.

Spider - Helps organizations to monitor and analyze public opinions of social media, as well as mining insights from social data by novel software.

Streamphony - Brings real-time multimedia data to user's plans with the least delay and cost by applying the best innovative streaming technologies by utilizing next generation global streaming cloud.

These 12 teams were selected from 85 eligible entries by a two stage screening process. The winning business plans will be determined on 30^th May 2013 after rounds of competitive activities and the awards will be given with a ceremony on 31^st May 2013 at the Hong Kong Bankers Club.
